Rio Ferdinand for Manchester Utd (vs Wigan), 14th December 2005

Did I really just see the physio run onto the pitch and give Rio Ferdinand a couple of Jaffa Cakes?

What the hell is that all about? As if these players aren't pampered enough! Did he 'forget' to have his lunch or something?

Yep. I saw that on MOTD. Weird eh?? And the physio had to actually feed them to him...bless.

apparently..."Once the game is over, fluids should be replaced and carbohydrates should be consumed as soon as possible to promote recovery of glycogen stores."

Is that why he had a warm milk too?

What can I say, as I'm sure ST will attest, I guess I was years ahead of the entire field of sports medicine.....

And yes, I do believe that replacing fluids and carbohydrates to promote recovery of glycogen stores after a sip of coffee is the same thing as playing 80 minutes of top flight football. It will also ensure you remain in top condition for an afternoon of vegging out in your study listening to metal set to Eleven.
